Meet Greg

Meet Greg

Greg has been a public servant for most of his career, and he wants to continue to serve his community.

Though his life experiences have been quite diverse, what has remained consistent are Greg’s passion and commitment to social, economic, racial, and environmental justice.

Greg grew up in New Jersey in a family of educators. His grandmother, mother, father, and sister all taught in public schools.  Greg completed his undergraduate degree at Penn State University and went to graduate school at the University of California, Berkeley, where he earned two master’s degrees: one in City and Regional Planning, and another in Civil and Environmental Engineering.  He worked as a public transportation planner in Oakland for six years, where he was a proud AFSCME union member and focused his work on connecting transit-dependent residents to jobs, schools, shopping, healthcare, recreation, and all other aspects of their lives.

After nearly 10 years in the Bay Area, Greg felt a need for change and made a big move to the country of Colombia, where he founded a small ecotourism and hostel business.  Living and working in cultures so different from his own upbringing taught Greg many valuable life lessons that shaped his understanding of the world and served him well in both his personal and professional lives.  Some of those lessons include the need to practice tolerance, patience, and humility and to respect, acknowledge, and listen actively to all people, especially those with backgrounds and life experiences different from his own.

After nearly 10 years living overseas, Greg returned to the U.S. to work as a National Park Ranger.  He spent seven years as an interpretive ranger across four western national parks, including Crater Lake, educating visitors and inspiring stewardship of some of our nation’s most iconic natural and cultural resources.  Greg was then hired as an Outdoor Recreation Planner for the Bureau of Land Management’s field office in Springfield, Oregon.  He worked there until 2025, when the second Trump Administration’s DOGE initiative dramatically changed his working conditions and job security, forcing his resignation.

Greg has been a member of the Corvallis community since 2021. His wife Marilyn is a longtime Corvallis resident and teacher in the Corvallis School District. They were married in Avery Park in 2025.  They both love living in Corvallis and appreciate the wide variety of civic, cultural, and sporting events available in the area and the easy access to nature and outdoor activities, including hiking, bicycling, snowboarding, paddle boarding, and kayaking.  They also love Corvallis because it is such a diverse, inclusive, engaged, and progressive community that values and respects all people.  Greg is running for Corvallis City Council because he loves his community, he cares about its future, and he has a vision of an even more inclusive community that takes care of ALL of its residents.
